Kaidyn's Tube & Adenoid Surgery

Thursday was a big day for us.  Kaidyn got tubes for the second time and had her adenoids removed.  Bill and I were a bit nervous this time around because we didn't quite know what to expect with the adenoids.  Dr. Shotts (K's ENT) told us recovery would be very easy so that's what we were banking on!  It is always scary when your child has to go under general anesthesia.  We arrived at the Louisville Surgery Center a bit late (thank you bridge traffic...ugh!).  It really ended up being no big deal, just less wait time for us.  Kaidyn can really be a pain when it comes to going to the doctor so we were expecting the worst.  She actually did really well!  We are super proud of her.  I will let the pictures show the progression of the morning.

Not happy to be there and clinging to mama.

Mama gives Kaidyn the "happy juice" to relax/calm her and she starts feeling pretty good within 10 minutes!

Silly girl...wow we even got the hospital gown on her at this point.  She's feeling pretty good and I have to help hold her head up!

Ready for surgery!

It's all over and our baby is resting peacefully!

I'm happy to report the surgery went great!  At the end of it Dr. Shotts came out and spoke with us.  He said that Kaidyn had a double ear infection.  We had no clue.  She didn't complain of anything hurting.  The tube in the right ear was not functional and was out of the ear canal and had tissue growing through it.  We were having second thoughts earlier in the week about the surgery mainly because we thought she was doing well.  Glad we went through with it.  We are staying optimistic that this second round of tubes will work as well as the first and this will be the end of our ear problems.  We celebrated that night with a "Happy Ear Day" cake and Nana and Papa brought us over dinner!

Candles and all!  Yay Kaidyn!

She continues to do well and Dr. Shotts was right, the recovery has been easy!  The worst part is putting the ear drops in.
