15 Month Check Up

It just occurred to me that I forgot to update everyone on Kaiydn's 15 month check up. It has a been a busy week filled with exciting events - first my birthday and then Bryan & Tiff's engagement. Anyway, Kaidyn is growing and developing beautifully. She weighs 23 pounds and is 31 inches long. This puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. I knew she was growing like a little weed because her 12-18 month pants are all too short. She received the flu shot and one other shot. This doctor visit was terrible for Bill and me though. Kaidyn screamed from the minute we got back to the room to when we got back out to check out counter. Dr. Valentine assured us this was normal behavior and this trend will probably continue until she is about 2. Super! Bill will be coming with me to every visit until then! Stranger anxiety has definitely set in, as well as Kaidyn's previous memories of the doctor. The bright side is she is a healthy little girl! She continues to talk and jabber like crazy. She is very demanding and let's you know exactly what she wants. This morning she brought me her sippy cup and walked me to the kitchen and pointed to the sink to let me know she wanted water and I needed to fill it up. She loves to get into everything she can, crawl up and down the stairs, play outdoors, dance to music, sing songs, go on walks, watch Mickey Mouse, eat Goldfish, and read books constantly!

The day before Kaidyn's doctor visit, we took her to get her H1N1 vaccination at a health clinic being held nearby. She again, screamed as soon as they took her temperature and didn't let up until after the shot and we were outside. Both the flu shot and H1N1 require an additional dose for her age, so we will be getting two more shots in December. I fell fortunate and relieved that she has been vaccinated with the flu and H1N1 though!
